Your privacy matters to the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, and we are committed to protecting your personal information.
The Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) was established in 1994 under the Australian Grand Prix Act 1994 (Vic) (AGP Act). Our primary objectives are to:
- Facilitate the annual Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park
- Facilitate the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit (together, the AGPC Events).
This Privacy Policy applies to the AGPC Events, our business functions, and our websites, and explains how we manage the personal information of individuals who interact with us, purchase tickets to or attend our events, as well as users of our websites (grandprix.com.au and motogp.com.au) – together, the AGPC Websites.
If this Privacy Policy does not answer a question you have about how we handle your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer. The contact details of the AGPC Privacy Officer are listed below.
1. Types of Information We Handle
Personal information
AGPC abides by the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) (PDP Act). The PDP Act defines personal information as information about an individual who is identified or whose identity is reasonably ascertainable. Most of the information we collect from patrons at AGPC Events, in the course of performing our business functions, and through an individual’s use of the AGPC websites is categorised as ‘personal information’.
We may, in limited circumstances, collect ‘sensitive information’ as defined under the PDP Act. This includes, for example, membership of a professional or trade association. We only collect sensitive information with consent, or where required or permitted by law, and handle it with additional care.
Health information
Under the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic), health information includes, among other things, information or an opinion about the health (physical, mental or psychological) of an individual, or an individual’s disability. We only collect health information with the relevant consent, or where required or permitted by law.
If you provide health information that we have not asked for, we will only use it for the purpose for which it was shared, unless required by law. We do not use health information for direct marketing.
Children’s information
We may collect personal or health information about a child from their parent or another responsible person connected with the child, such as through our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
We only collect a child’s information with the consent of a parent, guardian, or responsible person, unless the law permits or requires us to collect it without consent (for example, in an emergency or where necessary to protect a child’s safety).
We only use children’s information for purposes connected with AGPC Events, including their safety. We do not use children's information for direct marketing.

2.2 Collection from other people and organisations
We may collect personal information from sources other than the individual themselves, in the following circumstances:
From a responsible person
We may collect information about an individual from a parent, guardian, or other responsible person connected with that individual. This typically occurs when another person makes an enquiry, pays for an AGPC Event ticket, product or service on the individual's behalf, or in an emergency at an AGPC Event.
From authorised agents, licensees and service providers
We may collect personal information from our authorised agents, licensees, and service providers (such as Ticketmaster, AGPC on-sellers, and promotions companies) where the individual has consented, or where collection is otherwise permitted by law. For example, we may receive information from Ticketmaster about individuals who have purchased tickets to AGPC Events.
Where tickets are purchased through Ticketmaster or other authorised platforms, parts of the purchase journey occur on those platforms and are governed by their own privacy policies.
From other organisations connected with AGPC Events
We may also collect personal information from other organisations involved in the conduct or promotion of AGPC Events. Examples include:
- Motorsport Australia
- Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile
- Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme
- Formula One Management
- Dorna
- Motorcycling Australia.
From publicly available sources
We may also collect personal information from publicly available sources, including social media, where relevant to our business functions.
2.3 Collection through platforms and technologies
Integrated third-party platforms
Individuals may provide personal information to us through third-party websites, platforms, or services that integrate with the AGPC Websites. These platforms may collect information directly from individuals when they opt-in to receive communications, enter competitions, or engage with our content. Where this occurs, the collection will be subject to both this Privacy Policy and the privacy policy of the relevant third‑party provider.
Cookies, analytics, and tracking
The AGPC Websites use cookies and analytics tools to improve functionality and user experience.
We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to analyse visitor traffic and monitor site navigation. This may involve transmitting website traffic data to servers located in the United States. Google Analytics collects aggregated, anonymous data and does not associate IP addresses with user preferences. You may choose to opt-out of Google Analytics by adjusting your browser settings.
We also use standard technology known as cookies on the AGPC Websites. Cookies are simple text files stored on your device that allow our websites to remember your preferences, navigation patterns, and actions. Cookies help optimise the user experience and support website functionality. We may use session cookies (active only during your visit) and persistent cookies (active across repeat visits). Information collected through cookies is not directly attributed to you and does not access information already stored on your device.
Information collected through cookies may be used by us and by third-party service providers, advertisers, and partners to assist in delivering relevant marketing messages and advertisements, including through the placement of web beacons on third-party websites.
External websites
The AGPC Websites may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites.
3. Direct Marketing and Partner Promotions
Under section 21 of the Australian Grand Prix Act 1994 (Vic), we may carry out advertising and promotional activities. We conduct these activities in accordance with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), which regulates the sending of commercial electronic messages.
We may use personal information to send individuals marketing communications about AGPC Events, products, services, promotions, and opportunities that we believe may be of interest. Individuals may opt-out of receiving these communications at any time by using the unsubscribe facility included in each message or by contacting us.
Partner promotional content
From time to time, we may include promotional content from our commercial partners in communications that we send to individuals. When we do this, we do not disclose personal information to those partners. All communications are sent by AGPC, and partners do not receive access to our marketing databases.
4. Disclosure of Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to third parties where reasonably necessary for our business functions, to deliver AGPC Events, or to comply with our legal obligations.
These third parties may include:
- Ticketing and event service providers (e.g. Ticketmaster)
- Marketing, communications, and digital service providers
- IT and cloud hosting providers
- Security, safety, and emergency service providers (e.g. Ambulance Victoria)
- Mailing houses and research organisations
- Professional advisers such as accountants, auditors, lawyers, consultants and insurers
- Law enforcement agencies or regulatory bodies, where required or authorised (e.g. Victoria Police).
Some of these organisations provide services to AGPC on our behalf and support our operations on an ongoing basis. Others may receive personal information in more limited or specific circumstances, such as where required to support an event, respond to an incident, or comply with a legal obligation.
We may disclose personal information in circumstances where:
- You have authorised the disclosure
- The disclosure is reasonably necessary to support our functions and activities, including the delivery and promotion of AGPC Events
- The disclosure is necessary to facilitate services provided by third-party providers on our behalf
- It is necessary to prevent or lessen a serious threat to life, health or safety
- We suspect unlawful activity and disclosure is necessary to investigate or respond to that activity
- The disclosure is authorised or required by law
Where personal information is disclosed to third parties who perform services on our behalf, we take reasonable steps to ensure that those providers handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws and relevant contractual requirements.
4.1 Overseas disclosure of personal information
Some of the third parties we engage to host, process or support our systems and services may be located outside Victoria, including in countries such as the United States and United Kingdom. This may occur, for example, where we use cloud-based platforms, ticketing systems, analytics tools, or marketing technologies that operate internationally.
Where personal information is disclosed to, or processed by, recipients located outside Victoria, we take reasonable steps to ensure that the information is handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws. This may include contractual safeguards, due diligence processes, and assessment of the recipient’s privacy practices.
5. Security of Personal Information
We primarily store personal information electronically within our IT systems and databases. We also hold personal information in hard copy files. In addition, some personal information is stored by our third-party service providers.
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. To achieve this, we use a combination of physical, electronic, and network security measures.
These measures are supported by internal policies and procedures, along with training provided to our staff. Our staff are required to respect the confidentiality of personal information and the privacy of individuals.
AGPC endeavours to ensure that the personal information it holds is accurate, complete and up to date.
6. Retention and Destruction of Personal Information
We will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your personal information when it is no longer required for our business functions or activities, or when we are no longer legally required to retain it.
We retain and destroy records in accordance with the requirements of the Public Records Act 1973 (Vic). Personal and health information is destroyed through a secure destruction process.
7. Access and Correction of Personal Information
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you. In some cases, access requests may be handled under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) (FOI Act), depending on the nature of the information requested.
We will respond to such requests as soon as practicable, and we aim to do so within 30 days. We will provide access unless doing so would be unreasonable or an exemption under the FOI Act applies.
We do not charge fees for access or correction requests made under the PDP Act or the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic). If a request is required to be processed under the FOI Act, statutory access charges may apply. We will advise you if this is the case.
To request access to, or correction of, the privacy information we hold about you, please contact our Privacy Officer. You may be asked to verify your identity and specify the information you are seeking before access is provided. The contact details for the AGPC Privacy Officer are set out below.
8. Complaints
If you have a general complaint or enquiry about your experience at an AGPC Event, please use the Contact Us page on the AGPC Website.
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information and wish to make a privacy complaint to us, please contact our Privacy Officer through the contact details listed below. We will consider and respond to privacy complaints as soon as practicable.
We welcome your feedback on how we have handled your complaint. If you are not satisfied with our response to your privacy complaint, you may contact the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (OVIC).
